Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK)
Located in its brand-new, futuristic and very spacious terminal, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK), also known as Suvarnabhumi Airport, handles all international and domestic flights to Bangkok, with connecting flights to destinations all over the globe. The airport's seven-level passenger terminal is extremely large, and at 563,000 square metres, it is the second-biggest air terminal building in the world.
There are seven levels within the terminal itself. Level 1 is the bus lobby; Level 2, the Arrivals area, which includes transfer services, Immigration, Customs and Baggage Claim; Level 3 is known as the 'Meeting Centre' level, where most facilities are located; Level 4 houses the Departures area; Level 5, airline and airport offices; Level 6, restaurants; and Level 7 features an observation deck. Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport serves over 48 million passengers annually and around 80 flights hourly, with indications showing that this figure is set to soar.
Both local and airport express buses connect Suvarnabhumi Airport with central Bangkok and other destinations, such as the districts of Banglampoo, Ko Rattanakosin, Siam Square, Silom and Thonburi. There are also ample taxis, courtesy shuttles and luxury limousine options to ensure that you reach your destination in comfort.
The Public Transportation Centre, from which bus and taxi services depart, is located about ten minutes' drive from the terminal's Level 1 and is connected by a free shuttle service. A couple of major car hire companies are represented at Bangkok Airport allowing passengers to easily reach nearby cities, such as Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram.
